Elementary Casts Rhys Ifans as Sherlock Holmes' Brother Mycroft

Rhys Ifans has joined Elementary in the recurring role of Sherlock Holmes' older brother Mycroft. Ifans will make his first appearance in Elementary's Season 2 premiere, Thursday, Sept. 26 at 10/9c on CBS.

"I could not be more excited to have Rhys coming aboard," said executive producer and creator Robert Doherty.  "I've always been a tremendous fan and feel very honored to have him in the fold.  Equally excited are Jonny [Lee Miller] and Lucy [Liu], both of whom have worked with Rhys in feature films.  I think this is going to be a lot of fun for all of us."
The episode will find Sherlock traveling to London to revisit an old case.  But while there, Sherlock (Miller) is forced to confront his estranged brother when Mycroft allows him and Joan (Liu) to stay in his new home: 221B Baker Street.
Ifans memorably appeared as Hugh Grant's oddball roommate in the film Notting Hill and as The Lizard in last year's The Amazing Spider-Man.
